| The Sideways Tower Podcast began as a glimmer in Thom's eye after he started listening to Fear the Boot, which is a gaming podcast you should be listening to. Thom's favorite host was Adam, who leveled enough to upgrade his name to David. Then a guy named Luke became a host, and everything was perfect. For a while. Suddenly, David wasn't a host anymore, with no explanation to the public. Then Luke left. Now, this is a good time to point out that Thom has a slight case of OCD. Not the kind where he walks around with tissue boxes on his feet and a drawer full of finger nail clippings filed away, but the kind that makes him "NEED TO KNOW". That's how he found The Podge Cast, which lets him get through Mondays without wanting to put his head under the paper clamp. Fast-forward about six months, to the time when Chris comes up with the cash for recording gear. Four hundred dollars later, and we were set. Except for hosts. So Thom did what any normal guy would do when starting a podcast- he hired local homeless people to act like his friends and recorded. These early sessions were not fruitful. So, Thom turned to his real friends and blackmailed them into being hosts. Starring (in no particular order)
Ian is an angry, spiteful man- on the mics at least. He digs Coheed and Cambria (both the prose and the music), killing you in the face on Modern Warfare: Black Ops, and peanut butter M&Ms. He is a cook by trade, but can also run a mean RPG, play the bass guitar (slappin' da bass, mon) and do some voices that amuse Thom.
(the) Brian is the face man of the group. No, seriously, he's dreamy. Thom tells him that all the time. If you want to get in good with him, ask about Savatage. Or show him your boobs. He's a pro-player by choice, but his freestyle "You're in a room" games are badass. He's also full of good ideas, which normally makes him a good sounding board. He's been known to cut a little rug in his day, and play a very fast version of "Perry Mason" by Ozzy on his guitar.
Chris is the reason there's a podcast to listen to. And, she could have saved Episodes 3&4 (Movies 1&2) if Thom had only listened to her about the mixer. She also turned a blind eye to Thom's overuse of the credit card in setting all this up. She's big on word games, Toulouse on AsoBrain, and doing graphical work. If you dig our art, she's the one to thank.
Thom is the guy writing this, and he feels like an asshole for writing in the third person. He hates sunlight, the outdoors, calling it a "chest-of-drawers" instead of a "dresser", and the Wiimote.
Olaf is a mixed martial-arts fighter, currently out for a knee injury. He's 6'4" (1.93m for our overseas friends), and built like a Viking. To simplify: He is the brute squad.
Jesse (The Epic Beerd) was invited to be a regular host before the first episode was recorded. He declined so he could spend more time camping, riding his Harley, and not driving after consuming beer in the safety of his home. We commend him for the last, and Thom shivers over the first two as they require being outdoors. He truly does have an epic beard, and makes an imposing sight in his biker leathers. If you enjoyed him, bug him to come back on.
